My Greatest Joy Was Giving Someone Life: Adele Walker’s Kidney Donation Story
There are moments when God plants something in your heart long before you understand it.
For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to donate a kidney. It was never impulsive. It was never emotional. It was steady, like a quiet calling.

Scripture says in John 15:13, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
I didn’t need to know the person who received my kidney. They are still my neighbor. They are still someone created by God. They are still someone’s answered prayer waiting to happen.
But one day a friend shared on Facebook that their friend needed a kidney, and I knew it was time.
People asked me if I was afraid. My honest answer is that I trust God more than I fear outcomes. The Bible reminds us that fear does not come from the Lord. When we walk in relationship with Christ, fear loses its grip. That doesn’t mean we ignore wisdom or medical guidance, it just means we refuse to let anxiety rule decisions rooted in love.
I am not reckless with my life. I am grateful for it. And because I am grateful for it, I am willing to use it.
As believers, we know this life is temporary, but love is eternal. And if my temporary comfort can give someone decades more with their children, their spouse, their parents, then that is love in action.

Why would I fear death when I know where my eternity rests? That does not mean I seek death. It means I no longer live in fear of it.
My greatest joy is that I have given someone life, just like I gave my children life, because of an amazing God I serve.
Living kidney donation is carefully screened. Doctors ensure donors are healthy and safe. Most donors live completely normal, full lives afterward. This is not about throwing life away; it is about extending someone else’s.
I have always believed that when God places something on your heart repeatedly, gently, and consistently, it is worth listening to.
For me, this was obedience. If you feel that nudge, learn about it. Ask questions. Pray about it. Do not let fear make decisions that love is calling you to consider.
Somewhere, someone is praying for more time. And sometimes, we are blessed with the opportunity to be the answer.
